Vintage (or antique?), large, solid brass Band Instrument Double Sheet Music Holder made by Swiss instrument maker Max Reiner of Thun, Switzerland. Max Reiner started his instrument workshop in 1896 where he built band instruments, primarily trumpets. Upon his passing his 2 sons took over the shop, closing it in 1946. Max Reiner instruments are not common in the market today as production of the workshop was relatively small. This large holder measures 6" tall, 3 1/4" wide and 2" deep. It has a elegant, lyre shaped back and a substantial spring on the front to hold the split clip - making each side able to open separately to hold uneven pages or multiple pages. In very good vintage / antique condition with patina commensurate with age and good storage conditions. A wonderful holder for a band instrument or could be used as an attractive wall hook and holder for a music fan.
