Vintage 1950s, black iron and steel wire Dog shaped Note or Letter Holder with a clothespin head and bright green painted wood bead eyes. This whimsical mid century modern desk accessory attributed to American mid century industrial designer, Tony Paul, who is known for his wire home accessories that used wood ball accents and "hairpin" and skeletal wire frames in his pieces to highlight a feeling of weighlessness and playfulness to his designs. Paul designed home pieces for a number of US manufacturers such as Woodlin-Hill, Westwood Industries, Raymor, Tempo and Verplex. As with most of his pieces, this one is not marked, as was common as many of the manufacturers issued pieces with paper tags or foil stickers. This fun dog holder is in overall good condition, with some corrosion apparent on the wire parts and wear to the green paint on the "eyes" - see photos for details. A desk accessory with character, sure to bring a smile when seen on a desk or perhaps on a table in an entryway!
