Vintage, hand painted, Mexican stone wear, dinner-size Plate with holes for hanging from the Ken Edwards pottery studio in Tonala, Mexico. This heavy dish from the studio's "Collection Series" measures 10 3/8" in diameter and 1 1/4" high at the rim. This dish is painted with a stunning picture of a green breasted and long-tailed bird perched among blue bells and leaves, facing a blue-winged butterfly. The rim includes a running motif of small red and blue flowers and leaves surrounded by a cobalt blue outside band and a teal inner band. The back of the plate has 2 integrated holes for threading a wire or sting for hanging. The Ken Edwards mark is also on the back. The plate is in good condition with one small crack on the back by the marker's mark - see photos for details - which appears to be a result of firing. A lovely plate to add to a collection / display or to add some bright spot to serving.
