Vintage, silver plate Cheese / Butter Spreader or Knife by McGlashan-Clark , Co. (Queens Plate) in a simple, rounded-end, unembellished classic pattern without monogram. This spreader measures 5 1/4" long by 3/4" wide. McGlashan-Clark, established in the1880s in Fort Colborne, now Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, was the first silver plate manufacturer in Canada. It was the primary producer of flatware for the iconic Eaton's Department Stores (now defunct) under Haddon Plate brand, rebranded Wallace products for the Canadian market. McGlashan-Clark's other pieces were labeled King's Plate or Queen's Plate. These spreaders are likely 1940s - 1950s. In very good vintage condition with patina and wear commensurate with age. One or two of these are perfect for a charcuterie board or small dinner service, the whole 6 piece set for larger service or to give each one of your guests their own butter knife at their place setting. Have them engraved and give as a gift with charcuterie items or a jar of jam!
