Vintage 1980s, natural, hand woven, coiled grain Basket from Uganda with original tag. A basket with very small, even, tightly wound stitches and rows has a simple geometric pattern with diagonal brown stripes between solid yellow bands, both in naturally colored raffia - tree bark for dark brown and turmeric for yellow. Ugandan baskets are prized for their tight and even weaves that make some baskets as durable as other materials such as wood but are much lighter in weight. This basket measures 5" high, 7 1/4" in diameter at the top and 3 1/4" in diameter at the bottom. In very good condition, likely only used for display with clean interior and exterior. Original tag remains strung on. An item ready to use to store things or to enjoy on its own as an artisan piece.
