Set of 2, one large and one small, vintage 1980s, minimalist modern, black orb-shaped ceramic Oil Lamps by Hoganas Keramik Sweden. These lamps are covered in a high gloss glaze with an unglazed bottom embellished with the Hoganas Keramik manufacturing stamp. Haganas, established in 1909 in Sweden, is well known for its ceramic tableware and accessories in typical modernist Scandinavian style and the production of special pieces and sets designed by well respected artists and designers. the company was acquired by Iittala Group (Finland) which also makes tableware in ceramic and glass, owns BodaNova (Sweden), established in 1971, which is known for its classic mid century modern housewares of cork, glass and stainless steel. Each lamp has a 100% cast brass wick holders which are removable to fill the inner cavity with lamp oil and a blue and white woven cotton wick already placed. The larger lamp measures 5 1/2" in diameter, 4" high and weighs 1 lb 4 oz. The smaller one is 3 1/2" wide and 2 3/4" high and measures about 6 oz. In excellent condition with no cracks, chips or remarkable scratches. Brass wick holder clean and loaded with clean wick, ready to use. A handsome set to illuminate an intimate table or corner of a room with style to be an attractive sculptural statement when not lit.
