Vintage 1970s, Kurt Hammer design, painted old fashioned or juice Glass with bohemian folk art style, wine harvest motif. This lovely glass made at the designer's glass and porcelain decorating facility in Germany, shows a man, dressed in gypsy attire, on a horse drawing a wagon of wine grapes and surrounded by flowering plants and birds in a dark red and navy blue colorway. [Kurt Hammer (1926-2010) trained at the German Royal porcelain decorating facility and later in Selb (where much of the Bavarian porcelain was made). He opened his own porcelain and glass decorating business in 1955 in Munich. The studio created painted beer steins, cups, plates, pitchers, glasses and commemorative pieces with both old world and the bohemian folk art style graphics for which Kurt Hammer pieces are known. Growth spurred him to build a larger facility in Schondorf, Baden Wurttemberg in 1972. In 1975, he left the decorative painting business behind and became an abstract painter and developed renown in southern Germany and Austria. His oil and mixed media abstract paintings can be found in the Bavarian State Painting Collection, the New City Musuem in Landsberg, Germany and other collections.] This glass measures 3 5/8" high and 2 5/8" in diameter. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or major wear. A lovely glass for a special drink, to expand a collection or to use as a cute vase.
