Pair of vintage Bergdala "Ice" glass Chambersticks with beeswax Candles. This unusual pair of candle holders were designed in the 1980s as a modern interpretation of the centuries-old traditional chambersticks which people used in their homes for portable lighting before the introduction of electric lighting. These small candle holders, which usually had a ring handle for securely carrying it from room to room where often used at to navigate about the house to prepare for bed or when one got up in the middle of the night. This contemporary version is designed to hold a 1/2" diameter candle, often referred to as a larger Scandinavian taper or tiny taper candle which can be purchased through Williams Sonoma and other retailers). A pair of such candles in 100% beeswax are included to allow these candle holders to be enjoyed right out of the package! Each of these candle holders measure 3 7/8" long, 1" wide and 1 7/8" high and weigh 4.5 oz each. They are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or breaks. A wonderful pair of art glass candle holders with a wink at the past to illuminate a table or make a lovely hostess gift.
