Vintage 1970s, mid century produced in the Art Nouveau style, pair of cast brass Candle Holders with a botanic, flower, leaf and berry motif by Gilde Handwerk. These charming German candle holders measure 2 1/4" high and 4 1/2" wide where the leaves stretch further out as the base and 4" wide at the narrower points. The candle cup holds a standard taper candle. The deeply embossed pattern of the base comes through on the bottom and includes the company's typical shield with a crown and sash and "Gilde Handwerk" clearly embossed in the brass. The company, established in 1960, is known for its quality, creative , customized products and personal service to the wholesale market. It is still making a wide range of interior accessories and giftware in various styles in glass, ceramic and metal, through a stable of companies under the Gilde Handwerk Macrander GmbH name, and sold through large and small retailers and specialty stores. The company started producing brass and copper pieces in 1970 and stamped its pieces of this period with the "Gilde Handwerk" mark. These candle holders are in excellent condition, with a lovely golden patina from age and use. Sourced from an estate in Switzerland, they are perfect for a small dining setting or placed among other candle holders in the center of a larger table or a mantel to cast a soft glow to a room.
