HE left the university before finishing his degree to focus on craftmaking and fine arts, starting with painting and sculpting in paper mache. He had his first exhibit in 1966 in Mexico City. In 1970, he moved to Amsterdam to continue his work and study of art and returned to Tlaquepaque, Jalisco in 1975, opening "The Family Workshop Studio" where he began to produce sculptures in wood and metal with animal themes. By 1979, he added furniture in wood with brass accents. In 1992, jewelry in bronze, silver and gold with semiprecious stones and his classic animal themes was added to his extensive offerings. With the work of 300 skilled artisans, Bustmante continues to design and produce works.
