Vintage 1980s, Toile de Jouy fabric in Colonial Williamsburg "Canton Gardens" pattern in black & ochre colorway. This 100% medium weight, woven cotton piece of fabric, or tablecloth, has black thread sewn seams on all sides and measures 52" square. The classic chinoiserie pattern includes figures and exotic birds in white and gold on a black ground playing, making music and enjoying the gardens of trees, shrubs, gazebos, fences, flowers and water. This fabric is a reproduction of a pattern found in the original interior furnishings of an 18th century American colonial residence that is now a part of the outdoor museum of Colonial Williamsburg (Virginia). This cloth is in excellent condition with little signs of wear. A lovely accent with traditional flair for a dinner table setting or to add another layer to a buffet, sofa or to be fashioned into a set of pillows.
