Antique, Italian, petite, hand-hammered copper Vase with baroque repousse scroll motifs and a top scalloped edge. This lovely little vase stands 2 3/4" high and 2 1/2" in diameter at its widest and weighs 2.4 oz. The age of this unusual piece is unknown. Although the piece has crafted detailing attributable to 17th and 18th century Italian style in metal and ceramics, the hammered neck can be attributed to the Arts & Crafts / Aesthetic Movement. Italian hammered copper pieces of the 20th century have generally more simplified designs and shapes with little ornamentation so it is believed that this piece is late 19th century or older. It was found at a Swiss flea market carried by an Italian dealer who was selling it alongside a number of other small Italian items. The vase is in very good condition with dark patina and some small scratches apparent on the bottom - see photos for details. A charming piece for serving on a bar or to hold a small bouquet of fragrant blossoms or branches on a vanity or bathroom sink. Makes a great gift paired with small dried stems or flowers!
