Progress on the Path

Progress on the Path

In starting small and taking the time to look at various elements of the pieces you have chosen are great first steps to exploring vintage and successfully adding it into your spaces. (See my first post for getting your feet wet in the world of vintage home decor.) Further progress on the route now depends upon 2 main things: exploring your own personal "style" or inspirations and learning about the various elements of old pieces to determine the value of individual pieces or types of items in their power to transform your spaces. Both of these elements cover so much "territory" that it is best to break it down into smaller parts, which is what this blog is here to support. Each post going forward will focus on one more way to add to your personal journey into vintage, touching on ways to develop your personal aesthetic as well as informational articles to learn about the attributes of special pieces - their history, makers, materials, uses and more - in order to place those items in your personal archive as well as to make you better informed when shopping. "Venturing into Vintage" is a journey of deepening your understanding of your self and elements of your physical surroundings and shaping an intentionally inspired personal living environment as a result.

We rarely learn in a linear fashion and because I am constantly encountering different vintage pieces, I will be presenting information on items as they cross my path. With tips and insights, I will start with exploring your personal style and work forward based upon inspiration and requests from you, my readers.

What excites you today about the items in your space? Have you seen anything - objects, colors, shapes, scents - while you are out-and-about that brings you strong feelings? Write them down to start an inventory.
